Playing Catch Up {Part 2…pic heavy}

Once Christmas was over, my new job promotion went into effect. I went from 2nd shift & part time, to 1st shift (day hours) & full time & MANAGER!! That’s right, manager!! I was and am still extremely excited because this is a much better fit for me and my family.

Now let’s get to the part that makes me want to cry…Jeremy’s birthday! His 7th to be exact!! Where does the time go?!

This year for Jeremy’s birthday, instead of a party, he opted for him and couple of his friends to go to the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam show in Charlotte. So, that’s what we did the Saturday before his birthday.

Then, on Sunday (the day before Jeremy’s birthday, we spent the day at the park with little man’s BFF’s. When we got home, Jeremy got his birthday gift early because it was supposed to be nasty outside on Monday (Jeremy’s actual birthday).

Then, on Monday (Jeremy’s actual birthday) we had friends and family over to have cake and celebrate with us! My little man definitely had a birthday to remember!! He celebrated all weekend!!

Playing Catch Up {part 1…pic heavy!}

Can you believe it’s already 2013 and January is over half way done?!?!

We’ve had a lot go on since Christmas eve, my last day on here. We celebrated Christmas, I received a job promotion/transfer, we celebrated the New Year, and little man celebrated his 7th birthday!!

Let’s start catching up where we left of…Christmas!
We went to my parents house for their annual Christmas eve dinner. My family, brother’s family, and my sister’s family all gather with my parents and we “do Christmas” at their house with all the grandkids and each other. Everyone always has a great time and this Christmas was no different! 🙂

Homemade Gift #5: Fudge Wreath with a Peppermint Platter

Yesterday I made the cutest neighbor gift.

DSC_0020.NEF

A 5 minute fudge wreath atop a peppermint platter! How often do you get a platter thats {EDIBLE}?!

Here’s how made this cute little gift:

You will need 1-2 bags of mints (dependent upon your desired size), a cookie sheet, parchment paper & cooking spray.

Lightly coat your parchment paper with cooking spray

Place your mints in the design you want your platter (I chose rectangular).

Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.

This is how it will look once it's "baked". Let it cool before removing it, carefully, from the parchment paper.

Now for the fudge wreath!

Grease your pan. Put your milk can {covered with plastic wrap} in the center of your pan. Pour your melted ingredients into the greased pan. Add garnishments, and let chill in the fridge.

I used the recipe found {HERE}. It turned out perfect!!

Once you’ve gotten your fudge wreath made and your peppermint platter baked, it’s time to package it up.

I wrapped ours in clear wrap, tied it with a pretty ribbon and attached a cute ornament. So cute and inexpensive. I believe my total cost for this was $5.50!!

Homemade Gift #4

Today’s gift is for Jeremy’s teacher & principal.

This is my take on the adorable gift seen HERE.

For this gift:

DSC_0003.NEF

I used a tumbler, foil shreds, and ribbon from the dollar store. Inside the cup is a handful of hershey kisses, a handwritten note from my little guy, & a $5 McDonalds gift card. And a candy cane for the extra Christmas touch.

The total cost for this gift is $6.50!!

{$1 for the cup!! I know, right?!
$.25 worth of  shreds
$.25 worth of ribbon
$5 Gift Card
Had the Hershey kisses & Candy Cane on hand}

It’s not super expensive, but it definitely let’s someone know you were thinking of them.
